More About Megan Hoffman
I received my Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Food Science from the University of Alberta and completed my internship training in 2015. I am licensed with the College of Dietitians of Alberta as a Registered Dietitian. I have worked in various sectors of the healthcare system such as public healthcare, retail in the health and wellness industry and, in the last four years have worked in private multidisciplinary clinics.
In my last roles I worked predominantly with clients for perinatal care, perimenopause and menopause support. I offer support for families for various concerns such as general health support, chronic disease management, general health concerns (such as cholesterol levels, blood pressure, iron deficiency etc.), digestive health, hormone related disorders (such as PCOS, endometriosis etc.) and pediatric health.
I do not believe in one way of eating as a blanket approach to health. My approach is getting to know you, your history with diet and eating, your current concerns, your current knowledge and beliefs and then from that lens, shaping a plan and approach particularly for you. In a session we may not even set a diet related goal and may instead examine current sleep patterns and how those may be contributing to challenges in the diet. I try to offer my clients realistic expectations about the things we can change to contribute to our health and shine some light on the things that might be out of our control. This helps to give the client a greater sense of confidence and agency in their ability to make positive changes and decrease the feelings of shame or guilt that might accompany certain strict diet plans or exercise fads when we cannot stick to them.
At the end of the day, there are no magic bullets or quick cures for our health challenges and in the current health and wellness culture that we all grow up in, we can easily get wrapped up and in practices or beliefs that may be harming our relationships with food and our overall mental health. I welcome clients of all ages, genders and identities. My work with clients is guided by principles of Intuitive Eating and Health at Every Size (HAES). I do believe in a food-first approach and the use of supplements when needed. I look forward to meeting you and working with you and your family’s health and wellness goals.
